Love is an emotion of strong affection and personal interest.

In the context of philosophy, love is a good quality that inherits all goodness, feelings of compassion and affection. Another opinion is that love is an active action/activity carried out by humans towards other objects, in the form of self-sacrifice, empathy, attention, affection, helping, obeying words, following, obeying, and being willing to do whatever the object wants.

An example is a man/man who loves a woman/girl. For example, Mr Ivan, as a man, loves Mama Ivan as a woman.

Love also means liking or liking an object, whether it is a real object or an unreal object.

DEFINITION

Love is a positive feeling and is given to humans or other objects. It can be experienced by all creatures. The use of words of love is also influenced by current developments. Words always change meaning according to responses, understanding and use in different circumstances, positions and generations of society. The nature of love in the 21st century sense may be different than in past centuries. Expressions of love may be used to express feelings such as the following:

Feelings towards family

Feelings towards friends, or philia

Romantic feelings or also called romance

Feelings that are only will, lustful desires, or eros love

Fellow feeling or also called compassion or agape

Feelings about or toward oneself, called narcissism

Feelings about a particular concept

Feelings for one's country or patriotism

Feelings towards the nation or nationalism

TERMINOLOGY

The use of the term love in Indonesian and Malaysian society is more influenced by the word love in English. Love is used in all practices and meanings for eros, philia, agape and storge. However, more appropriate words are still found in regional languages and are explained as follows:

Love that tends more towards romance, romance and lust, eros.

Affection that tends to be more towards friends and family, philia.

Love that tends more towards family and God, agape.

The spirit of the homeland is more inclined towards patriotism, nationalism and narcissism, storge.

ETYMOLOGY

Several languages, including Indonesian or Malay when compared with several advanced languages in Europe, appear to have more vocabulary to express this concept. This also includes ancient Greek, which distinguished between three or more concepts: eros, philia, and agape.

Love is a feeling of sympathy that involves deep emotions. According to Erich Fromm, there are five conditions for realizing love, namely:

Feeling

Introduction

Responsibility

Attention

Mutual respect

Erich Fromm in his best-selling book (The Art of Loving) states that the four symptoms: care, responsibility, respect, knowledge all appear in balance in a loving person. It's nonsense if someone says they love their children but never take care of them and have no responsibility for them. Meanwhile, responsibility and care without true respect & without a desire to know more deeply will lead parents, teachers, clergy and other individuals to an authoritarian attitude.

TYPES OF LOVE

Just as there are many types of lovers, there are many types of love. Love exists throughout all human cultures. Because of these cultural differences, the definition of love is difficult to determine. See Sapir-Whorf hypothesis.

Expressions of love can include love of the 'soul' or mind, love of laws and organizations, love of the body, love of nature, love of food, love of money, love of learning, love of power, love of fame, and so on. Love is more of an abstract concept, easier to experience than to explain.

Love that already exists needs to always be maintained so that its beauty can be maintained
